Alcohol-Drug Education Service's Making Decisions Series, is a leading education initiative to combat drug and alcohol abuse and encourage social responsibility.
The program:
-
equips students with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills they need to make informed decisions about alcohol and other drugs
-
teaches students how to be assertive, to think for themselves, and to recognize and deal with pressures and influences that lead to substance use
-
is the only program of its kind that addresses BC Ministry of Education Personal Planning K-7 and Career and Personal Planning Learning Outcomes
-
is a vital tool to help kids make healthy choices today and in their future
Research shows that drug education efforts that employ scare tactics, moralistic messages and other didactic approaches produce little, if any, positive effects. A more sound strategy for prevention adopts an informative, interactive and holistic approach. Making Decisions was developed on this basis.
